Her reaction comes in response to the recent demolition of houses in the Mende, Maryland area, conducted by officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources to clear the way for a drainage channel.

Despite claims from some affected occupants that they were only given two hours’ notice before the demolition, Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab stated they were duly warned beforehand. The demolition, part of a year-long exercise, has affected properties across the state, including estates and business structures. Alade highlighted her worries about the impact on real estate values and lamented the losses suffered by property owners, urging the government to explore alternative solutions to preserve properties.
