The NRC Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, made this known in a statement on Thursday.

According to the corporation, the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on September 9 and was promptly brought under control by maintenance personnel.

Electrical Cables Damaged

Unyimadu said preliminary inspection showed that some electrical supply cables connected to the control panels were damaged in the incident.

He, however, confirmed that the station’s alternative solar power system was not affected by the fire.

Power has also been temporarily restored to the station’s lifts and escalators, with five of the six units currently operational.

Abuja-Kaduna Train Services Unaffected

The NRC assured passengers that the fire incident did not affect operations on the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service.

The corporation said scheduled train services would continue as planned despite the damage to some electrical installations at the station.

“The technical team is conducting further assessment to determine the cause of the fault and permanently restore the affected installations,” Unyimadu said.

He added that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) had been informed to provide the necessary technical support and intervention.
