FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has inaugurated a modern market featuring 2,500 stalls in Karmo District, Abuja, boosting commerce.

The project, a collaboration between FCTA and Rural Homes Limited, aims to enhance infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.

Speaking at the ceremony, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, represented by Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, emphasized its strategic importance.

Wike stated that Karmo Market provides a structured hub for traders, entrepreneurs, and investors, aligning with economic development goals.

“This market unlocks real estate potential, creates jobs, eliminates informal markets, and preserves urban culture,” Wike explained confidently.

The market includes spacious shops, ample parking, security systems, and modern amenities designed for seamless commercial operations.

Hajia Sa’adatu Aliyu, Managing Director of Rural Homes Limited, highlighted unique market features developed in partnership agreements.

Spanning 10 hectares, the market incorporates a dedicated farmers’ section, uncommon in most traditional trading environments.

Aliyu stated, “With 2,500 units, cold rooms, warehouses, and 12-meter-high ceilings, modernization drives Nigeria’s commercial growth.”

The facility also features duplex offices, microfinance institutions, banks, clinics, and fire services to support operations.

A central hub, comprising over 750 shops, caters to SMEs, ensuring broader economic participation and sustainable development.

Aliyu added, “Flexible payment plans are available, and over 50 percent of stalls have been sold successfully.”

She attributed the sales to partnerships, cooperatives, and banking institutions collaborating for seamless project financing options.

“This project showcases what young people can achieve through government partnerships, proving effective collaboration creates lasting impact.”

She concluded by expressing gratitude to the FCDA and the Minister for their unwavering support and dedication.
