The Lagos State Government has stressed the importance of training builders and engineers to ensure competence and collaboration with other stakeholders in the delivery of their services to residents.

The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Kamal Baiyewu, disclosed this, according to a statement on Wednesday, during the third quarter of the 2022 workshop organised by the Local Government Establishments, Training and Pensions Office in Alausa, Ikeja.

He said, “Whatever we are doing now is to enhance the capacity of every of our staff, especially the head of works: the engineers, the builders, architects. All of them are here because we are preparing them for a higher pedestal and more responsibilities. After all, any of these engineers can become council managers.

“We need to equip them and we need to make them responsive so they can compete with their peers at the state and national levels. This will be an annual training and it won’t be limited to the works cadre, it will go around everyone.”
