A Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu has ordered the arrest of the Managing Director (MD) of the Kano Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA), Architect Suleiman Ahmad Abdulwahab, over contempt of court unless he refrains immediately from disturbing the peaceful possession of a landed property in Kano.

In an ex parte application filed by Abdulkarim K. Maude, Justice Farouk granted an interim order on January 30, restraining KNUPDA and other respondents from disturbing the peaceful possession by the assignee and use of the property, LKN/COM/2013/64, situated at Western Bypass, Gurin Gawa-Medile, in Kano.

KNUPDA, which is the second defendant in suit K/m/100/2023, continues entering into the land in contention and ordering stoppage of ongoing construction activities, showing total disobedience to the court order.

The court had earlier adjourned the case to February 10, 2023, for hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

The land in contention belongs to Almukab City II, one of the leading estate developers in Kano.

The plaintiffs in the suit are Architect Khaleed Baffa, Hadiza Baffa, Joshua Echioda and Barrister Murtala Adamu Gwaram, while the respondents are Kano State Government, KNUPDA, Kano State Bureau for Land Management and Attorney General of Kano State.
