Two federal ministers have commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising infrastructure and housing development, describing his Renewed Hope Agenda as a roadmap for Nigeria’s rebirth.
Speaking in Abuja as the country marked its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, said the administration’s policies were beginning to reshape the nation’s economic and social outlook.
Umahi noted that Tinubu had made the revival of road and other critical infrastructure a central focus since assuming office, tackling longstanding deficits across the country. He pointed to the Renewed Hope legacy projects as part of a broader plan to expand economic opportunities and drive growth.
“With massive investments in infrastructure across all six geopolitical zones, the President has repositioned the nation on the path of glory,” Umahi said, adding that Nigerians could already see progress in road construction and rehabilitation efforts.
He urged citizens to draw inspiration from the spirit of independence, unity, and sacrifice, while expressing optimism that Tinubu’s initiatives would continue to accelerate national development.
On his part, Dangiwa said the Renewed Hope Agenda went beyond being a policy framework, describing it as a “promise of national rebirth” that would create lasting prosperity.
The minister highlighted reforms in land administration, expansion of affordable housing finance, urban renewal programmes, and the rollout of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme aimed at delivering tens of thousands of homes nationwide.
“These efforts are not just about building houses,” Dangiwa explained. “They are about building communities, creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and restoring dignity to Nigerians through homeownership.”
He acknowledged past challenges in housing delivery, which he said had been slow and fragmented, but stressed that the current reforms were laying the foundation for sustainable growth in the sector.
Looking ahead, Dangiwa expressed confidence that the future of housing and urban development in Nigeria was bright, with stronger partnerships and innovative programmes expected to transform cities and boost inclusive prosperity.
