The Africa Housing Awards 2024 is set to shine a spotlight on transformative leaders and organizations dedicated to advancing affordable housing solutions across the continent.

Among the distinguished honorees are Kecia Rust, the Executive Director and founder of the Centre for Affordable Housing Finance in Africa (CAHF); Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company; and TAF Africa Global.

These recipients will be recognized for their remarkable contributions to addressing Africa’s housing challenges during the prestigious ceremony on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Musa Yar’Adua Event Centre in Abuja.

Festus Adebayo, coordinator of the Africa Housing Awards, described the upcoming event as a celebration of excellence and innovation in the housing sector.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Adebayo emphasized the impact of this year’s honorees, noting their exceptional dedication to promoting affordable housing.

“Kecia Rust has emerged as a trailblazer in the Affordable Housing Promoter of the Year 2024 category,” Adebayo stated. “Her leadership at CAHF has been instrumental in fostering housing finance strategies that prioritize accessibility and affordability for low- and middle-income earners across Africa. Kecia’s innovative approaches, policy advocacy, and commitment to affordability have set a benchmark for sustainable housing development across the continent.”

Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company Limited will receive the Innovative Affordable Housing Solution Provider of the Year Award. The organization’s forward-thinking initiatives in creating accessible financing solutions have made homeownership more attainable for thousands of families in Kenya, reinforcing the role of innovation in addressing housing deficits.

TAF Africa Global Limited, another notable honoree, has been named Affordable Housing Company of the Year. Renowned for its commitment to delivering cost-effective and quality housing across Africa, the company’s projects have significantly reduced the housing deficit while setting new standards for affordability and sustainability.

The Africa Housing Awards 2024 will bring together key stakeholders, policymakers, and industry leaders to celebrate these achievements and foster collaboration across the housing ecosystem. Attendees will include the Governors of Sokoto and Nasarawa states, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Distinguished Senator Philip Aduda, and Engr. Emeka Eze, OFR, among others.

Beyond individual awards, the ceremony will highlight groundbreaking initiatives in categories such as innovative housing solutions, rural housing initiatives, social housing development, and real estate investment trusts. The Affordable Housing Hall of Fame will honor individuals who have left an indelible mark on the sector, recognizing both living and posthumous contributions.

Adebayo emphasized that the rigorous selection process reflects the credibility and prestige of the awards. “This event is more than a ceremony; it is a statement of what is possible when innovation, collaboration, and dedication converge to address Africa’s housing challenges. These honorees exemplify the spirit of progress and set the stage for a brighter future in housing.”

Organized by Housing TV Africa in collaboration with the Housing Development Advocacy Network, the Africa Housing Awards continues to inspire excellence, promote innovation, and advance sustainable development in Africa’s housing sector. As the stage is set for a night of glitz and purpose, the awards promise to celebrate the transformative power of affordable housing solutions across the continent.
