The Ogun State House of Assembly has summoned three men for their alleged involvement in land-grabbing activities at the Olusegun Obasanjo Hilltop, Abeokuta.

The suspects are Sina Faneye of Ligere Compound, Isale-Ake, Abeokuta; Femi Sowunmi of Akikem Properties; and one Bashiru Larry, who lives at the Obasanjo GRA.

The invitation, was part of the Assembly’s quasi-judicial functions to stem the activities of land grabbers in Ogun State.

The lawmakers had on Wednesday commenced a fact-finding mission into the allegations of land grabbing levelled against the trio, “who were alleged to be engaging in illegal sales of landed properties at Oke-Olobo Iyoke, Via Abule Ake in Olusegun Obasanjo Hilltop, around Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.”

The Assembly, through its Committee on Lands and Housing, at a meeting with some concerned persons, had summoned the three men to appear before it on Friday, September 1, by 11:30 a.m.

The Wednesday meeting was attended by representatives of the Sodiya, Obadimu and Faneye Families.

It was also attended by some executive members of the Community Development Association at the Olusegun Obasanjo Hilltop, led by its Chairman, Engr. Kayode Banjo.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Damilola Soneye, noted that the presence of the three invited persons at the next meeting “would help shed light on the ongoing land investigation by the State House of Assembly.”

Soneye, in the company of other lawmakers, maintained that the committee would engage relevant government agencies in verifying the authenticity of all documents tendered by both parties.

According to a statement by Ogun Assembly media, Soneye clarified that “those invited were alleged to be engaging in land grabbing activities and thus terrorising the residents of the community.”

He stressed that “they should appear in person on the said date.”
