The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners NITP has congratulated the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa on his appointment.
The president of the institute Tpl. Nathaniel Atebije in his address during the Housing Stakeholders Agenda Setting Dinner for the new minister in Abuja described his appointment as the hope that has been promised.
According to Atebije, Dangiwa is a man that knows the job, has passion for the job, a man that is qualified for the job, and has been tested and trusted.
“Many times, we worry so much about the budget of various aspects of life in Nigeria, and not so much of housing. Why many nations do not complain so much about health, education and other basic challenges is because they have taken care of housing.”
He urged the new minister of housing to focus on issues that will bring about a sane environment, adding that the Nigerian Urban and Regional Planning Law is a good place to start, if all important areas are activated.
While pledging support, he charged the minister to ensure that all uncompleted projects are completed, like the housing policy, urban development policy among others.
“We encourage you to involve indigenous professionals because we have come of age to be able to organize our own environment.”
