The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has carried out a sensitization exercise against the use of hard drugs in the Abattoir community in Abuja. The community, which is located close to an animal market in the Karu axis of Abuja by the boundary between the FCT and Nassarawa State, has been revealed to be a major hub for the sales of illicit drugs such as Crack, Codeine, Molly, Tramadol, Refnol, Rochi, Arizona, Loud (Canadian and Ghanaian loud).

During a road walk in the community, the Abuja Command of the NDLEA displayed various banners and placards with messages such as “Friends Don’t Let Friends Do Drugs,” “Spot the Signs, Break the Chain,” “Your Potential is Limitless Without Drugs,” “Love Yourself: Break Free from Substance Abuse,” and “Say No to Drug Trafficking.”

NDLEA FCT command’s officer in charge of sensitization, Nduka Augustine, said the dangers of getting involved in drug use, drug trafficking, and drug peddling are far too enormous. He urged residents of the community to stay away from drugs and to report any suspicious activity to the NDLEA.

The sensitization exercise was well-received by residents of the community, who expressed their support for the NDLEA’s efforts to combat drug abuse. They also called for more to be done to address the issue of drug trafficking in the community.

The NDLEA’s sensitization exercise is a positive step in the fight against drug abuse in Abuja. It is important to raise awareness of the dangers of drug use and to provide resources for those who are struggling with addiction. By working together, we can create a drug-free community.
