The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, will tomorrow lead the groundbreaking ceremony for the Graceland, Rehoboth and Mercyville Estates project conceived by COPEN group in Enugu.

This major housing development is part of a broader initiative to build 10,000 housing units in partnership with the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation at the coal city eastern extension layout.

The announcement was made at the Amadeo Business Summit, which commenced today in Enugu State, bringing together key stakeholders in Nigeria’s housing sector.

During his remarks at the summit, Dangiwa praised the Enugu State Government for its proactive role in supporting large-scale housing projects. He emphasized that the Graceland Estate project exemplifies the collaborative approach necessary to address Nigeria’s growing housing deficit.

“This project aligns with our action plan for housing development, which relies heavily on public-private partnerships. It not only provides affordable housing but also creates job opportunities and stimulates local economies,” Dangiwa noted.

The minister further outlined the need for a combined effort involving federal, state, and private sector entities to achieve the ambitious housing goals. He highlighted the importance of partnerships with developers, international philanthropic bodies, and corporate organizations to ensure the success of initiatives like the Graceland Estate.

According to him, the housing initiative will create many direct and indirect skilled and unskilled jobs in these states. Construction work at the sites will also stimulate local economic activity, benefiting the communities and the broader economy.

The project, which spans 260 hectares, is expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for countless families in Enugu and contribute to the state’s economic development.
