  • Arch. Francis Evbuomwan, Managing Director of Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS).

The Managing Director of Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS), Arch. Francis Evbuomwan has said the state government would be channeling funds raised from Land Use Charge to drive development in areas where the charge is paid.

Evboumwan said this during the training of 200 tax relationship managers in the state for efficient tax administration.

He said the programme is the beginning of a new dawn for tax collection in Edo State.

According to him: “Land use charge is a development tax, which the government will channel to the areas it was generated. All these are some of the details that will be taken out to the public and letting them know why they have to support the Government by paying their taxes.”

The programme tagged ‘Project Reset’ is aimed at training experts to ensure that tax assessments generated are effectively served to taxpayers across the state’s 18 local government councils, ensuring that the assessments are acceptable and payments made accordingly.

It is intended to reset the economic landscape of Edo State, with about 1,000 enumerators deployed to collect data across the state, to enhance economic planning.
