Kogi Partners Private Developer to Provide 1,000 Units of Housing Estate

As part of efforts to ensure affordable houses for all in Kogi State, the state government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in partnership with a private developer, Onyx First Risers Limited, to provide of 1,000 units of affordable housing scheme in the state.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Folashade Arike Ayoade, who disclosed this while speaking at the signing ceremony of five MoUs in at office of the SSG in Lokoja yesterday.

Ayoade, who signed on behalf of the Kogi State Government, stated that the state Governor, Yahaya Bello, was poised to revolutionise provision of housing in the state as well as develop agro allied industries in the state.

She pointed out that another MoU between the state government and Emperium Industries Nigerian Limited for the production marlstone pellets as part of efforts to process the abundant mineral resources in the state.

The SSG said: “The MoU between Kogi State Government and EForce Agro Developers Limited for the building of infrastructures of modern agro-complex food production in Kogi State was aimed at boosting food security in the state.

“In addition to these, the technical partners would provide over 5,000 jobs for the teeming youth in the state, which would also boost economic activities in the state.”

According to Ayoade, who spoke on behalf of the governor, explained that the modern 1,000 housing estate would be cited in Lokoja, the state capital.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Lokoja, the Managing Director of Onyx First Risers Limited, S. A. Okagbare, said his organisation was partnering Kogi State Government to develop 1,000 housing units in Lokoja.

Okagbare pointed out that the idea was conceived about three months ago, adding that the ground breaking exercise will take place in February 2022.

He assured the state government that the project would be environmental friendly.
