Housing Finance Expert, Dr. Chii Akporji Becomes First Woman to be Appointed Chairman of Shelter Afrique
Shelter Afrique the Pan-African Housing Financier dealing exclusively with the promotion of affordable housing has appointed Housing Finance Expert, Dr. Chii Akporji as its Chairman.
This appointment makes her the first woman and representative of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to chair the Board of the Nairobi-based housing development financier.
She was previously a board member of the African Union for Housing Finance and Africa International Housing Show winner of Housing Finance Person of the year in 2017.
Dr. Akporji is an executive leader with strong expertise in urban development and housing finance, development policy analysis and advocacy. She has vast experience working with bilateral and multilateral Development Finance Institutions and partners, national governments, public and private sector entities, and non-governmental organizations in industrialized and emerging economies on resolving key development challenges to achieve set economic growth targets.
She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Nsukka, Nigeria and an MA in Modern Anglo-Irish Studies from the University of Ottawa.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) that Dr. Chii Akporji represents on the Board of Shelter Afrique is one of the major shareholders contributing and offering a host of products and related services to support the efficient delivery of affordable housing and commercial real estate.
Dr. Akporji takes over the Chairmanship of Shelter Afrique Board and will be overseeing the positioning of the company as an investment-grade organization and a capital drive which will include opening membership to shareholders.
Shelter Afrique is the only pan-African finance institution that exclusively supports the development of the housing and real estate sector in Africa.
