The Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA) has commenced construction of the Umunnekwu-Amibo-Acha Road in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony, GODA’s Director General, Obinna Odum, described the road as a vital infrastructure project for both the local community and the wider Abia North zone. He noted that the project would ease decades of poor road access, enhance the free movement of people and goods, and boost socio economic activities, particularly in agriculture and commerce.
Odum explained that the road project aligns with Governor Alex Otti’s broader agenda to open up rural areas, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic growth across the state. He assured residents that the construction would be executed according to approved standards and within schedule, stressing that durability and quality would not be compromised.
Community leaders and residents welcomed the development. Chukwu Ahamefula, a local leader, expressed gratitude to the governor and GODA, recalling the community’s long struggle with lack of access roads. He voiced confidence that the project would be delivered as promised.
A youth representative, Adindu Chimereucheya, added that the new road would not only provide a sense of inclusion for residents but also transform the local economy once completed.
