The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria in collaboration with NLC, TUC, and NECA is set to commission its worker’s affordable housing projects in 8 states of Nigeria from next week.

In a statement released by the organization, the commissioning will be done by governors of each of the states where the projects are located.

According to FMBN, the prices are from N3.1 m to N8.1m for different house types of one bedroom to 3 bedrooms.

In the statement, FMBN expressed its fulfillment with the completion of the first batch of the housing units and also thanked the Labour Unions for their cooperation and support.
“We are excited at the progress that we have made on the National Affordable Housing Delivery Program. Indeed, it is a historic initiative as it marks the first time that FMBN and organized labour, and NECA are working together on the basis of a realistic and acceptable framework for delivering affordable housing to Nigerian workers.”

Contained in the statement, the Bank stated that the stakeholder involvement and contributions to the project design make the National Affordable Housing Delivery Program a fit-for-purpose tool that will deliver houses that workers can afford as part of the overall national efforts toward redressing the huge housing deficit that experts now estimate to be over 22 million housing units.

“The collaborative spirit which this Programme has fostered gave room for Labour leaders and NECA, who understand the realities and financial challenges that Nigerian workers face, to make constructive inputs to the housing designs, pricing range, and other relevant conditions for delivering this project. Work is ongoing on the other units, and we would continue to work hard towards completing, commissioning, and ensuring prompt offtake by Nigerians,” he added.
