Schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will commence first term for the 2021/2022 academic session on September 19, 2021.

A statement by the acting director, Department of Quality Assurance of the Education Secretariat of the FCT Administration, showed that while boarders will resume Sunday, September 19, day students shall resume Monday, September 20.

The statement signed by Mrs Uzoanya M.E. for the acting education secretary, indicated that the term will end on Friday, December 17, 2021.

A parent, Barr. Simeon Gbaa, said he was excited that his children will now resume school for normal academic activities after COVID-19 disrupted schooling for much of last year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools in the FCT lost first term of the 2020/2021 session as part of efforts to normalise the academic session.

He said the economic situation in the country is harsh and it will be difficult for most parents to send their children back to school but it was endearing news to know that children can return to normal schooling.

He urged the authorities to ensure safety of all students considering the prevailing security situation in the country.

Meanwhile, second term of the 2021/2022 session shall commence on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
