El – Rufai, Gbenga Fatimilehin and late Abubakar top list of those to be inducted into the Affordable Housing Hall Of Fame 2022

Africa’s leading non-governmental housing advocacy organization, Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN), has finalized plans to unveil the affordable housing hall of fame 2022, to honour those who have made significant impact in the provision of affordable housing for Nigerians.


The event will also honour other Nigerians whose legacies have continued to inspire millions of people due to their significant contributions to the development of the nation’s housing sector.

The former Vice President Alex Ekeueme,The former civilian governor of Lagos State, Late Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, Late Professor Akin Mabogunje, Late Engineer S.O. Fadahunsi, and the former presidents of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors, Late Sir Fortune Ebie were among those who were posthumously inducted in 2021 for their unparalleled and priceless contributions to affordable housing delivery in Nigeria.

According to the Executive Director of HDAN, Festus Adebayo, the list of those to be inducted in 2022 include the former minister of fct Mallam Nasir El Rufai for la,dark policies that created many housing estates in Abuja. Also on the list, according to Adebayo is Mr Gbenga Fatimilehin for his great contributions towards delivery affordable housing. The postthumous induction will be that mallam abdul abubakar the founder of Imani and sons.

Affordable Housing Hall of Fame

Adebayo added that the hall of fame was created as a platform to honour those who fought and still fighting for the growth of affordable housing in the country.

He said, “The idea behind this event is to encourage more people, either as a state governor, as a president, as minister to do more in the area of affordable housing delivery.

“It’s another moment to celebrate our heroes of affordable housing for the next generation to know those who have really worked for affordable housing in the country. Nigeria is not the only country to achieve this feat, countries like the USA, UK, Singapore, Malaysia had at various times celebrated their heroes of affordable housing.”

The 2022 edition of the Hall of Fame will take place during the Africa Housing Awards, billed for Friday 15 December, 2022 at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
