Reports have emerged on social media suggesting that Rev. Uma Ukpai, a prominent Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, has reportedly passed away.
The development began gaining attention after Prophet Joel Ogebe shared a message on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.” Although Ogebe did not mention any names, many social media users interpreted the post as referring to the respected cleric based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
A few hours later, a Christian media platform, Church Gist, also shared a post on Facebook announcing that the evangelist had passed on. The message read, “A GENERAL TAKES A BOW! EVANGELIST UMA UKPAI HAS GONE TO BE WITH THE LORD. REST IN POWER, SIR.”
As of the time of this report, there has been no official confirmation or statement from Rev. Ukpai’s family or ministry.
Rev. Uma Ukpai, known internationally for his evangelistic missions and interdenominational outreach, founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association several decades ago and was regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential Christian leaders.
