Panic gripped residents and motorists around the Apo Bridge area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday night following an explosion near Shafa Filling Station, close to Rita Lori Hotel in Garki.
The incident caused confusion as people fled the area amid fears of a possible bomb blast.
Eyewitnesses Report Multiple Explosions
An eyewitness, Jason Akande, said he heard several loud explosions from the scene.
“It just exploded. I thought it was a bomb blast. I heard about seven explosions,” he said.
The explosions reportedly occurred near the busy filling station, triggering panic among residents, motorists and other road users.
Firefighters Respond
Officials of the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and began efforts to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings and facilities.
Emergency responders and security personnel cordoned off the area while rescue and firefighting operations continued.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not confirmed the cause of the explosion.
There was also no official information regarding casualties or the extent of damage caused by the incident.
