AHA 2022: Megabrand, Royal Ceramics Wins Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award

It was a night of glamour, recognition, and excellence as West African Ceramics Limited, a leading manufacturer of ceramics under the brand name of ‘Royal’ won the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the just concluded Africa Housing Awards 2022.

The promoter of the Africa Housing Awards, Festus Adebayo revealed that the award is based on merit and only open to the best in the industry, ranging from housing, industry management, property development, architecture, construction, engineering, real estate development, mortgage banking, mortgage financing, home materials, property technology and more.

According to stakeholders, the leading ceramic company has contributed so much to community development in Nigeria and across Africa including its supply of drinking water to the Oguro village (500,000 liters approximately a month), road rehabilitation project Ajaokuta-Lokoja highway to Geregu village, distribution of relief materials worth N13million from West African Ceramics Limited to Kogi state government to cushion the effect of the recent flood, construction of a mosque in Oguro village and employment opportunity for about 1,500 youths.

Other CSR by the firm includes the provision of scholarships to some students of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, and also a Tiler Training Program in Jaji, Abuja; the Royal Tiler’s Meet initiative, powered by West African Ceramics Limited, a platform to empower local tilers across Nigeria with the knowledge and skill on how to implement international tile-laying standards.

The most credible and prestigious award in Africa’s Housing Industry had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana who led a powerful delegation comprising the Speaker of Yobe State House of Assembly, Secretary to the State Government, 3 Commissioners, Permanent Secretary of the state’s housing ministry and Managing Director of Yobe State Housing Corporation among others to receive the Housing Friendly Governor of the Year Award on behalf of his excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Among other eminent personalities, movers and shakers of the industry who graced the occasion were the Commissioners from Edo, Niger, Plateau and Yobe States, Members of House of Reps, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Burundi, Mr Madu Hamman, Managing Director of FMBN, Mr Yakubu Sanni Acting CEO of Family Homes Funds Ltd, Tpl Nathaniel Atebije President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Arc. (Chief) Gabriel Aduku, Chairman Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Institute of Architects, Arc. Musa Sada, Former Minister of Mines and Steel, Representative of the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing, Representative of Labour Party Presidential Candidate, GMD of Odua Group of Companies, among others.

Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning that Royal has been producing vitrified, digital & roofing tiles in West Africa and serving the needs of the building material industry in West Africa since 1995. Among its products are Royal Floor and Wall Tiles, Engineered Marble, Commercial Floor, Wall, and Home Floor Tiles.
