Addressing Housing Deficit Gap: Tackling Data Shortage

Evs Johnbull Amayaevbo, President of the Nigerian Institution Of Estate Surveyors And Valuers (NIESV) has highlighted the importance of involving the National Population Commission and professional bodies in addressing housing data in Nigeria.

He made this known while  delivering a goodwill message at the Stakeholders Agenda Setting Dinner For Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development organized by the Housing Development Advocacy Network. 

Evs  Johnbull described the minister as a true professional  who understands essential components of the job in terms of funding and construction. He acknowledged that the minister is fully aware of the issues and problems affecting housing in Nigeria due to his extensive involvement in the housing industry over the years.

However, it is extremely important to involve the National Population Commission to collect, analyze and disseminate data in the country as the absence of precise demographic and statistics is a major hitch that must be addressed in order to close the housing shortage gap. He emphasized that the minister is off to a good start because this is a crucial first step in resolving the problems plaguing the industry.

“ We have no doubt that with you in the industry and a large number of developers with you in the industry, you are going to collaborate with all major players and involve professionals so that at the end of your tenure we are very hopeful that the issue of housing in Nigeria will be a thing of the past”.

In order to establish a long-lasting solution, he also underlined the necessity for cooperation and partnership with fellow ministers adding that the Nigerian Institution Of Estate Surveyors And Valuers and all other professional bodies in the sector will be providing necessary data and support needed.
