EFCC: We did not raid Tinubu’s home over alleged N400m in personal vault

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Sunday, denied a report doing the rounds that its operatives stormed the home of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a sting operation and recovered N400m in the process.

Tinubu is the presidential standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the February 25, 2023 presidential poll.

The poll is just six days away, and the political ecosystem has become heated due to partisan frenzy and high octane politicking as well as electioneering activities.

Tinubu is believed to have a war chest that is exempli gratia and he is believed to be adequately prepared to fund his election comprehensively.

Apparently scared that he would bludgeon his way through the electoral system, THE CONCLAVE reports that the broad consensus of opinion by Nigerians is that the Federal government’s currency redesign policy might have been conceived to target himdiscounting view to discounting his spending powers.

The report of a sting operation, which the EFCC has vehemently debunked, came against the backdrop of the scenario painted supra.

The anti-graft agency in its statement said its attention had been drawn to a report circulating in the social media, claiming that operatives of the Commission raided the home of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming presidential elections and recovered a humongous sum of N400 billion.

The Commission categorically denied the allegation, describing it as “fake news.”

“The Commission wishes to state that no such operation was carried out by the EFCC. The public is enjoined to disregard the report as fake news,” a statement signed by Wilson Uwujaren, the Head of EFCC’s Media & Publicity team said.
