As part of its core mandate of capacity building and addressing the challenges facing the construction industry, the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI) has announced plans to hold the 10th edition of its annual conference series aimed at finding lasting solutions to the challenges posed by discarded wastes in the construction Industry.
The DG/CEO of NBRRI, Engr. Samson Duna made this known during a World press conference organized at the Agency’s conference center in Abuja.
Engr. Samson said that the upcoming annual conference scheduled to hold between 27th-28th of April 2021 with the theme “Circular Economy in the Built Environment for Enhanced Performance of the Nigerian Construction Industry” intends to brainstorm possible solutions to eliminating waste in the Construction Industry; thereby turning them to sustainable wealth in the country.
This year’s NBRRI International Conference is expected to be declared open by the Hon. Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu who is to be supported by the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Barr. Mohammed Abdullahi.
According to the DG, the forum is also expected to discuss other sub-themes which include; Socio-Economic and Environmental impact of circular economy in Construction; Construction using Recycled/Reclaimed Materials; Policies, Insurance, and Legal Frameworks as drivers for Circular Economy in Construction; amongst others.
Engr. Samson Duna who recounted the giant strides and the remarkable achievement recorded by the Conference in time past, noted that this year event will not be an exemption; as it has been designed to deliver its mandate both on the construction industry and the Nigerian economy.
The 2021 NBRRI International Conference will see Guest speakers and experts from within and Outside Nigeria. The Series is scheduled to hold at the NBRRI Administrative Headquarters in Abuja; with many participants expected to join the conference at the venue while some will join virtually on https://ezxpo.net/nbrri2021 due to the COVID-19 restrictions put in place by the NCDC.
