The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
The directive formally ends the operations of the secretariat, which had continued to function after the committee completed its initial assignments.
New Division to Handle Federal Government Houses
The FCT Administration said Wike has approved the creation of a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration to take over responsibilities previously handled by the dissolved committee.
The new division will now serve as the official channel for matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, residents and other members of the public were directed to approach the Department of Land Administration for enquiries and transactions relating to the properties.
FCT Warns Against Fraudsters
The administration also warned members of the public against individuals who may continue to present themselves as officials or representatives of the former committee.
According to the FCT Administration, the former committee and its secretariat no longer exist, meaning anyone claiming to act on their behalf should be treated with caution.
The warning is aimed at preventing fraudulent property transactions and protecting prospective buyers from individuals who may attempt to exploit the name of the dissolved committee.
What the Closure Means for Property Buyers
The restructuring effectively places the administration of Federal Government Houses under an established division of the FCT Department of Land Administration.
Prospective buyers and members of the public seeking information about the sale of the properties are therefore expected to use the department rather than dealing with individuals linked to the former ad-hoc structure.
The move also provides a clearer administrative channel for handling future issues arising from the sale of Federal Government Houses in Abuja.
Wike Directive Takes Immediate Effect
The FCT Administration said the directive was approved by Minister Nyesom Wike and took effect immediately.
With the secretariat now formally closed, the Department of Land Administration becomes the relevant government office for matters concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.
