The Kano State Government, in conjunction with the World Bank and the French Development Agency, plans to build 6,300 kilometers of rural roads in the state.
Yahaya GarinAli, Director-General of Kano State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, made the announcement while opening a five-day workshop for 152 enumerators in the state on Data Collection, Strategies, and Recording of RAAMP road features.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Adamu Abdullahi, Development Communication Specialist, RAAMP Project, GarinAli underlined the government’s commitment to upgrading access roads and agricultural infrastructure development in the state.
‘’The DG, therefore, urged the participants to consider the assignment as their contribution to the state which requires ardent dedication and commitment to commensurate with efforts of the state government on improving the lives of the citizenry,” the statement said.
Sunusi Suleiman, the State Project Coordinator, described the training as a fulfillment of the World Bank’s requirements to operationalize the usage of Nigeria Rural Transport Infrastructure Management System software meant to help monitor job progress during construction.
Suleiman went on to say that the training’s goal was to educate the enumerators how to use the NiRTMS software tool to track rural road networks as well as record engineering, environmental, and social elements such as schools, mosques, markets, communities, and farms, among other things.
