In several neighborhoods in Ikare Akoko, several houses have been flooded as a result of torrential rain that lasted for nearly three hours.

The River Dada overflowed its banks, causing the floods.

A church and three hotels were among the structures damaged.

Flooding in the Agbaluku area caused significant vehicular traffic on the highway.
Mrs. Yemisi Adeniyi, Director of Environmental Services of the Akoko Northwest local government, asked residents to refrain from putting structures near river banks.

Residents who obstruct streams with rubbish will suffer the wrath of the law, she said.

Chief James Oladetohun, a community leader in Ikare Akoko, has petitioned the federal government to declare Ikare Akoko an ecologically vulnerable town.
