The Department of Development Control of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has commenced the demolition of about 30 buildings obstructing the Right of Way of the Ring Road 3 corridor in Karsana District, Abuja.
The exercise is being carried out following a directive issued by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during an inspection of ongoing road projects in the area on August 20.
Wike ordered the immediate demolition of the structures after being informed that they were located within the corridor reserved for the Ring Road 3 interchange and other associated infrastructure under the Abuja Master Plan.
The affected corridor forms part of the planned road infrastructure linking Karsana, Gwarinpa, Kubwa and the Airport Road axis.
The demolition is aimed at clearing the Right of Way and allowing uninterrupted construction of the Ring Road 3 project.
