The officials of the standards organization of Nigeria (SON), has shut down 13 steel rod manufacturing companies engaged in producing sub standard products. These manufacturers have said to have decreased the the quality of these products and sold them at a high price.
Speaking at a stake holders meeting in Lagos was the SON Director General, Mallam Farouk Salim. He said that Nigeria’s industrial standard for steel products must be adhered to, and also the steel companies and importers must recall any sub-standard steel bar they have in the market.
