In the early hours of Monday, May 26, 2025, heavily armed assailants invaded Grow Homes Estate in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, Abuja, holding residents hostage for over an hour. The attack occurred between 12:00 AM and 1:30 AM, during which the attackers overpowered the local vigilante team.

Eyewitnesses reported that at least two individuals—a man and a woman—were abducted. However, by daybreak, the woman was found within the estate, having been released by her captors for reasons yet unknown. The exact number of abducted individuals remains unconfirmed.

Residents have expressed concerns over the poor state of access roads, which they believe hampers timely security responses. They are calling on the government to improve infrastructure and establish a nearby police station to enhance rapid response capabilities.

This incident adds to the growing concerns about security in Abuja’s suburban areas, highlighting the need for enhanced protective measures for residents.
