The chairman of the Abuja chapter of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Osilama Emmanuel Osilama, has called for the reduction in the price of cement in other to help developers deliver affordable houses to Nigerians.

Mr. Osilama made this call during an interview with newsmen in Abuja recently

He commended the recent move by the Senate to compel the Federal Government to introduce liberal policies that would stimulate more investment in the manufacturing of cement.

He described the move as a step in the right direction, especially at this point in time when the COVID-19 pandemic was taking its toll on all factors of the economy, including the housing sector.

Osilama called on government at all levels to make housing a top priority.

According to him, housing remains the best way of employment generation and a basic need of human needs.

It would be recalled that Senator Ashiru Oyelola Yisa and five others, who sponsored the motion, had said such policies should include provision of industrial and larger tax incentives to encourage local investments in cement production in the country.
