The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) have recently endorsed the intentions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to accomplish an eight-point agenda in three years.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, reportedly stated during the first Federal Executive Council meeting, presided over by the President, that the FEC had set eight priority areas to deliver for Nigerians in the following three years.

Dr. Tayo Aduloju, the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, responded to the situation on Tuesday by saying that if rigorously carried out, the federal government’s stated plans would get the country out of trouble.

Aduloye urged that the new ministers use the next three months to recalibrate and fine-tune policies that would put the nation’s economy on the path to success.

“We urge the cabinet to use the opportunity of the mid-point review of the National Development Plans and the Sustainable Development Goals to recalibrate the country for success, complete the finetuning of policies and repositioning of institutions in the next three months so that the next three years are spent in execution mode, not “review mode”, he stated.

Similarly, NECA’s Director-General, Mr Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, urged that the government ensure proper coordination towards implementing the planned agenda.

“We urge that strong coordination efforts should be put in place to avoid it being caught up in inter-ministerial misalignments and narrow implementation as witnessed in past administrations,” he said.
