NDE Gives N4.5 Million To 228 Benue Artisans
Under the Micro Enterprise Enhancement loan initiative, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Benue State disbursed N4.5 million to 228 craftsmen and small business owners on Thursday.
The payment of the N20,000 micro loan packages to each of the 228 beneficiaries, according to NDE’s director general, Alhaji Abubakar Fikpo, demonstrated that they were serious minded businesses.
“The ceremony we are seeing today is a practical indication of the current management of NDE’s determination to battle unemployment in the country, particularly in Benue State, by empowering 228 youths and women under the Small Enterprises Department,” Alhaji Abubakar remarked.
The director general, who was represented by the NDE’s Benue State coordinator, Emmanuel Ugela, said the scheme was designed to help graduating artisans develop their enterprises and hence their outputs, as well as improve their wealth.
As a result, he urged the recipients to show a strong dedication to their microbusinesses, stating that they were a stepping stone to bigger things to come.
Stanley Tersoo, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, praised the NDE and pledged that the funds will be wisely spent.
