When bandits attacked the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Tuesday, personnel monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) were reportedly asleep.
According to TheCable, two officers were killed and one was kidnapped in the attack.
According to sources who spoke with TheCable, the bandits entered through a section of the facility that was not fenced in.
“It was in the middle of the night, and the personnel who were supposed to be monitoring the CCTV had slept off,” another source told TheCable.
“They had the option of putting everyone on high alert and averting the attack.”
TheCable has learned that some soldiers will face court martial for failing to secure the area.
