• Restates sustained collaboration with Family Homes Fund, FMBN to provide sustainable housing for vulnerable citizens
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has pledged his support for a low-cost real estate developer in Nigeria, Millard Fuller Foundation (MFF), as he promised to fix the access road to the foundation’s recently commissioned housing estate located at Masaka, Nasarawa State.
Speaking at the commissioning of the 248 housing units of the 1,000th home built by the MFF, Sule noted that the state government has succeeded in enacting the investment and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) law to create a more enabling ground for a robust partnership between investors and the state government.
Speaking further, he said it is important to celebrate the success of the foundation most especially its impact on the housing sector, not only in the state but also in the country and the African continent.
He charged other investors and stakeholders to emulate MMF by taking advantage of the state’s business environment and reforms.
While describing the construction and real estate industry as one of the sectors with increased generated revenue, he reassured his commitment and belief towards the development of the sector through various concerted efforts.
He said: “we have made some progress in providing and improving the sector. Notably, we have enacted the modern mortgage law to enhance liquidity in the housing sector, ensure our people have access to affordable houses and restore the confidence of investors in the sector.
We have strengthened our geographical information service to improve the access and ease of registration of property and documentation here in Nasarawa state.”
The Governor said the state government has kickstarted the implementation of a robust Nasarawa housing programme in collaboration with the Family Homes Fund and Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to create an enabling environment for private investors and also provide sustainable housing for the poor and vulnerable in the state.
According to him, the successful implementation of the housing project is a growth process such that it generates increased annual funds as well as sustain direct and indirect jobs for citizens in the state.
He expressed delight in the progress made by the state’s local agencies; Nasarawa Investment & Development Agency (NASIDA), Nasarawa Urban Development, among others, nothing that their efforts are producing positive results.
Sule was quoted as saying this is evident in the massive housing project embarked upon by the MFF and many other home developers in the state.
