Poor housing system, as well as overcrowding of people in a house, has been identified as one the factors that fuel spread of the killer disease called Tuberculosis (TB).
Dr Kema Onu, FCT Coordinator, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja on Thursday.
According to Onu, poor housing system that allows overcrowding of human beings, sharing very congested spaces as houses, has remained one of the greatest causes of the spread of TB.
“Stopping Tuberculosis goes beyond the ordinary Healthcare system alone, but could also be arrested from the public housing system.
“People should live spaciously in well planned houses, instead of shanties or squalors which increase the risk of Tuberculosis,’’ he said.
