Stakeholders in the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) have set modalities in place to host a virtual meeting to seek out ways to improve funding for the real estate sector.

The meeting, with the theme, ‘Real Estate Funding: Exploring Sustainable Alternative Solutions’, slated for June 10, 2021 virtually, will see participants drawn from the real estate and financing sector.

The Vice President of the African Development Bank (ADB), Mr Solomon Adegbie-Quaynor, will be the keynote speaker at the meeting.

Other panelists includes; Mr Kehinde Ogundimu, Managing Director, Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company, Mr Funsho Akere, CEO, Stanbic IBTC Capital Trust Limited and Ify Umunakwe-Okeke, Founder, Lexon Capital Nigeria among others.

Highlight of the meeting would be the launch of a book, ‘The Law And Practice of Real Estate Investment Trusts’, authored by Mr Hakeem Ogunniran, CEO, Eximia Realty Company.

Giving a review to the book, Mr Oscar Onyema, CEO, Nigerian Stock Exchange, noted that the organization recognizes the role of REITS in Capital mobilization, value creation and unlocking real estate assets and deepening the capital market.

Onyema said NSE had always supported initiatives aimed at driving the growth of this critical asset class.

“The book is well-timed and all capital market participants- Lawyers, stockbrokers, issuing houses, registrars etc will find this book as a very useful guide”.
