The Lagos State Government has released the traffic diversion plan following the Federal Ministry of Work’s reconstruction of the Apapa-Oworonsoki-Ojota expressway.

The traffic diversion plan during the construction period is for a period of four months with effect from Monday, October 18, 2021.

This disclosure is contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, in Lagos.

Oladeinde said the construction schedule outlined in the notification from the Federal Government revealed that traffic will be diverted at the Gbagada/Berger axis for Recycling and Asphalt works at night on each day between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.

He explained that during the Asphalting process on both lanes of the road, a section of the chosen lane for construction (inbound or outbound) will be left free for motorists to minimise inconveniences, adding that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on ground to coordinate movement.

The Commissioner further assured that signage with information on traffic directions will be hoisted by the Federal Government on the outbound carriageway to Ibadan and inbound carriageway to Lagos to guide motorists on movement during the construction period.

Oladeinde solicited more support and cooperation from commuters in order to achieve the Smart City dream for Lagos as well as express his gratitude to the citizenry for their understanding and patience despite the several ongoing construction projects within the State.

The section 3 of the Apapa-Oshodi-Ojota expressway, which begins at Cele and ends at Ojota by 7Up, had been completed up to Gbagada axis of the dual carriageway.

Recall that earlier in September, the Federal Government commenced work on section 2 of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, four months after the contract was awarded to Dangote Group. The section 2 of the expressway begins at Sunrise and ends at Cele Bus stop.
