Japa: UK Launches Portal to Recruit Nigerians for British Army

The British Army has announced a new recruitment drive, specifically targeting Nigerians and other Commonwealth citizens, for various roles within its armed forces.

The recruitment window is open from August 19, 2024, to August 26, 2024.

The Army is seeking Nigerian candidates for positions such as musicians, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Engineers Technicians, tradesmen, and paratroopers. The British Army highlighted the significant contributions of Commonwealth soldiers and emphasized their continued importance within the organization.

Applications are to be linked to the Recruit Bounty Referral Scheme, except those applying as musicians. Prospective candidates will be required to undergo several fitness tests, including the multistage fitness test (beep test), seated ball throw, and mid-thigh pull.

The British Army has advised applicants to quit smoking and maintain a balanced diet in preparation for the assessments. Successful candidates will travel to the UK for further evaluation in October and November 2024. Basic training for those accepted is set to begin between January and March 2025.
