The presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today frowned at the idea of professionals shying away from politics, using the excuse that it’s a dirty game. Hence, Tinubu warned that “if good people run away from politics, you’d be forced to obey the law of the foolish.”

Tinubu made the comment while addressing leading members of the Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI), at a stakeholder’s engagement forum in Asokoro, where he promised to invest heavily in infrastructure and unlock new funding opportunities to support the building and construction sector.

He said “I’m a finance man trained in Deloitte and Mobil. So let me assure you that I have the ability to find the funding to support the work you are doing for our country. Reacting to a question on insecurity and how it is affecting the sector, Tinubu said “we will take insecurity very seriously and give it all it takes to solve it. We want people to go to construction sites without fear of being attacked and we want you to continue to create jobs. And so, I promise you again, believe me, we will deal with insecurity decisively.”

Additionally, Tinubu assured the FOCI that his administration will ensure that payments for work done will not be delayed as has been the case for several years in the past. “We know payments can be slow,” Tinubu said, “but we will ensure to improve on it. The Buhari administration is already doing a lot of things right in this sector and we intend to build on them.”

On his part, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of FOCI, Builder, thanked the former Governor of Lagos for engaging them in a robust discussion about the sector and wished the candidate well in the coming election.”
