Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has completed the construction of the 14-kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali Local Government Area, providing a modern access route to the Sukur Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The road, which includes 12-cell and 6-cell culverts, replaces the previously dilapidated path that made it difficult for residents, tourists, and visitors to reach the historic site. The Sukur Cultural Landscape is globally renowned for its ancient stone terraces, traditional palace, and rich cultural heritage.
With the project now completed, movement of people and goods in the area is expected to improve significantly, boosting trade and tourism activities in Madagali and the wider Adamawa State.
Local communities have welcomed the development, describing it as a long-awaited project that will enhance their livelihoods and attract more visitors to the region.
Governor Fintiri noted that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure development and to positioning Adamawa as a destination for cultural tourism and investment.
