FG Charges New FHA Management On 760-Unit Housing Projects

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has inaugurated the new executive management of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), urging them to complete an ongoing 760-unit housing project.

The three member new FHA executive are the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Senator Olugbenga Ashafa; Executive Director, Business Development, Abdulmumuni Jibril and Executive Director, Housing Finance and Corporate Services, Mr. Maurice Ekpenyong.

Fashola expressed the hope that the trust and confidence the administration repose in them would be well kept in the discharge of their duties to deliver houses for the people.

He also said: “The President has chosen well because the team has the requisite skill and experience needed to move the nation’s housing sector forward. We’ll intervene, if the management veers off the track.”

The minister emphasised that the combined efforts of the trio would form a strong and formidable team that would actualise the aim of the administration in constructing affordable housing units nationwide.

While urging the management to work assiduously to ensure the bridging of housing gaps challenge, Fashola maintained that through the FHA projects, people would be empowered at the grassroots .

The Works and Housing Minister, equally, urged them to develop new estates in urban centres to address housing needs, saying FHA Act has set out clear responsibilities, which they should follow.

Responding, the new FHA boss, Senator Ashafa expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the trust and confidence repose on them. pledging the team’s unalloyed support and commitment to provide affordable houses for Nigerians.

In a goodwill message, Chairman, Senate Committee on Housing, Senator Sam Egwu enjoined the management to work conscientiously as a team so as to realise the mandate. He said the National Assembly is ready to assist them.
