The President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Professor Sadiq Abubakar, has called for enhanced regulatory frameworks to address recurring engineering infrastructure failures in Nigeria. Speaking at the 32nd Engineering Assembly in Abuja, Abubakar emphasized the need for stricter oversight to prevent incidents such as building collapses and other structural failures that have become prevalent in recent years.

Abubakar highlighted COREN’s commitment to improving engineering standards through initiatives like the Engineering Regulation Monitoring Enforcement programme, supported by the newly established National Technical Committee and Engineering Intelligence & Surveillance Task Forces. These bodies will collaborate to ensure compliance with engineering standards across the country.
