The Kirikasamma Local Government Council in Jigawa State confirmed on sunday that one person lost their life while seven others sustained injuries following a building collapse in the area.
According to the council’s Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, the tragedy occurred in Kabak village late Friday night after heavy rainfall pounded Kirikasamma and nearby communities.
Muhammad said five of the injured victims were admitted to hospital for treatment, while two others were treated and discharged.
Council Chairman, Muhammad Maji, who visited the site to commiserate with residents, pledged support for the victims. He released ₦500,000 to cover hospital bills and also presented ₦100,000 in relief aid to the family of the deceased.
