The Anambra State Housing Development Corporation (ASHDC) yesterday inaugurated Chief Obiorah Chukwuemeka Egbuna as the newly elected Chairman of the Bridgehead Housing Estate Executive in Fegge, Onitsha South LGA, as part of a strategy to boost revenue collection across all state housing estates .
Chief Chike Anyaonu, Managing Director of ASHDC, emphasised the urgency of recovering unpaid property rates, warning that the corporation would launch its own collection campaign within a month if defaulters remain unresponsive. He highlighted the irony of persistent protest over deteriorating roads and infrastructure when property rates remain largely unsettled.
Addressing the new Bridgehead leadership, Anyaonu praised their election as a strong endorsement from residents and urged them to mobilise support for timely payments. He also urged residents to back Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s expected reelection, noting the administration’s commitment to improving local infrastructure.
Chairman Egbuna, in his inaugural remarks, extended an olive branch to former rivals, pledging unity and collective focus on estate improvement. He confirmed that reconciliation sessions have already addressed several inherited disputes, with the remaining issues still under amicable negotiation.
Community voices, including Hon. Emma Ekelobe of ONEICO and former contender Hon. Ikedim Ikegwuonu, expressed confidence in Egbuna’s leadership, welcoming his inclusive vision for the estate’s future
