The Converner of the Abuja International Housing Show, Mr. Festus Adebayo noted that, the place of youths in the design of affordable and sustainable housing cannot be overlooked. According to him, the youths must be given the chance they need to provide designs and come with ideas that would make for a better sustainable housing development thereby closing the gap in the housing deficit in the country.
In this regards, the converner and other stakeholders came together to create opportunity for the involvement of these class of people in the housing development and management.
One of the highlights of the 15th edition of the AIHS is the flagoff and the inauguration of the first ever youth competition on design and ideas for affordable housing in Nigeria to be chaired by Architect Sam Ordia.
According to the chairman, Mr. Ordia, the competition will be open to all eligible Nigerian in the built industry who have gone through various certifications with at least ten years cognitive experience.
He noted that, the competition will begin on the 6th of August, 2021 when the website for registration and participation would be open.
Participants in the competition are expected to partake in some line up of activities that will last for almost four months and it will be unveiled in three stages, which are: the project concept stage, the entry level and the final stage.
Apart f the monetary prizes, stakeholders in the industry promised immediate employment for winners.
