Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, elder statesman and national leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere, has died at the age of 100.
Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa announced his death on Tuesday in a statement personally signed in Akure, the state capital.
The governor described Fasoranti as a respected elder whose life was defined by wisdom, integrity and selfless service to Ondo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria.
In the statement, Aiyedatiwa said Fasoranti’s century-long life reflected an enduring commitment to the development of the state and the country.
“His counsel, fatherly guidance and principled stand on issues of justice and good governance will be sorely missed,” the governor said.
He added that the late elder statesman had left a lasting legacy of honour and service for future generations.
