IFMA Nigeria applauds the Federal Government’s building maintenance policy.

Mr. Segun Adebayo, President of the International Facility Management Association’s Nigeria Chapter, has praised President Muhammadu Buhari (retd) for signing Executive Order 11 on the National Public Buildings Maintenance Policy.

According to the association’s statement, Adebayo said the Executive Order had been long overdue and that its execution would ensure professional management and preservation of federal assets.

“As we eagerly await the implementation of the new order’s provisions, such as the establishment of maintenance departments in MDAs,” he said, “our association is committed to collaborating with the Federal Government through relevant Ministries to provide required capacity building and knowledge development.”

“As a group, we’ve been advocating for the integration of sustainable practises into the built environment, and it’s starting to pay off.”

“We would also like to congratulate the Honorable Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, on this achievement, as his efforts in the ministry have yielded phenomenal results, which will have a positive impact on the various projects that this administration has undertaken.”

The Federal Government is committed to implementing a long-term maintenance programme to maximise the massive investment in public infrastructure, according to the Executive Order.

The Federal Public Assets Maintenance Department would be in charge of the coordination, implementation, management, and upkeep of federal public assets, facilities, and premises throughout Nigeria.
