689 special taskforce teams have started receiving training from the National Population Commission (NPC), which is in responsible of making sure the 2023 census is credible, accurate, and acceptable.

The Federal Commissioner National Population Commission,  Alhaji Mohammed Usman Dattijo stated this in Minna on Tuesday.

He explained that the commission reposed huge confidence on the special taskforce to perform optimally in ensuring the successful conduct of the census in Niger state.

He said, “this training of the trainer exercise is aimed at strengthening your knowledge on procedures of conducting census.  Your role is very vital in the census because whatever we are doing if the census is not credible and acceptable, it will be an exercise in futility.”

He said the participants would go through rigorous training on field operations which they would in turn impact on the facilitators down to enumerators.

He urged the participants to pay attention to the training sessions and show commitment,  adding: “We are not here for the fun of it. “

He advised those not captured on the Federal Commissioner’s list to vacate the training ground, explaining: “we want to be clear on who has on our list.”
