Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have initiated a manhunt for Bola Abiodun and her husband, Sunday, who fled their home in the Temidire community of Ifo Local Government Area after allegedly disposing of their tenant’s body in a canal.

The alleged crime took place on May 8, 2024, at approximately 12:05 p.m. According to a police source within the command, who requested anonymity due to a lack of authorization to speak publicly, the tenant, identified as Iya Ibukun, had been struck by a hit-and-run driver on May 5, 2024.

Following the accident, Ibukun resorted to self-medication, fearing she could not afford medical treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries a few days later, passing away in her apartment.

The landlady and her husband allegedly removed Ibukun’s body from her room and disposed of it in a nearby canal. Suspicious residents alerted Mosuru Akindele, Chairman of the Community Development Association, and youth leader Olabode Kazeem, who then contacted the authorities.

State Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, stating that efforts were underway to recover the body from the canal. “Our men went to the house and discovered a two-year-old boy in a welfare facility. Meanwhile, our men combed the entire canal in search of the body, but we haven’t found anything,” she said.
